BlueBlue Snecon 180S Sinking Pencil
The Snecon 180S is the mid-size version of BlueBlue's S-curve sinking pencil, and by designer Masanori Muraoka's own account the hardest lure the company has ever developed — it took him well over a year to get an 18 cm plug to swing the way he wanted. None of the internal weight balls are fixed in place, so the smallest change in water pressure sets them moving and the lure never quite repeats itself. It swims almost dead level rather than tail-down, and a straight retrieve on its own produces a wandering S-track just under the surface with an audible knock from the shifting weights. Add stop-and-go and the swing sharpens; jerk it and it walks the dog subsurface; feed a long jerk slowly and it loads up for the widest slides of all. Through-wire built for kingfish, Spanish mackerel, tuna and big Australian salmon.
