Crono rebuilt the Prospec from the sinker out for one job: omorig — the boat technique where a heavy sinker sits above the jig and the squid takes it on a near-motionless hang. SSS stands for Super Slow Sinking, and the number that matters is the fall rate: about 11.2 seconds per metre, roughly three times slower than a standard 2.5 egi. That is a long time for an arrow squid or calamari to sit under it and make up its mind.

Purpose-built for the slow drop without wrecking the fall posture. The jig still hangs nose-down at the right angle instead of sagging or spinning, which is what usually goes wrong when you simply lighten an egi.

Weight sits inside the ABS shell rather than all of it under the belly. The balance is trimmed from two directions at once, so the fall stays stable even at this speed.

A 3.0-size crown on a 2.5 body. The extra diameter holds the hanging posture, adds drag that helps balance the fall, and the thin hyper-carbon wire sticks on contact — fewer dropped squid on the way up.

The Oil colours. Both patterns here come from Crono's Oil series — a translucent, slicked finish that reads as a dark silhouette from below and picks up whatever light is on the water. Black Oil is the one for a lit boat and clear water; Red Oil holds a harder outline once you are deep or the water has colour in it.
