Yamashita EGI OH K DEEP Squid Jig
EGI-OH K DEEP is the Egi-Oh K for the days the standard jig can't get down. Yamashita kept everything that made the K Japan's benchmark egi, the dead-straight fall, the Hydro Fin and the crisp dart, then built a heavier Deep sinker under it so it reaches the bottom in 10 m-plus water, holds its line in a cross-wind and stays in the zone when the tide is really running. For South Australian gulf drop-offs, Port Phillip's deeper reefs and the open-coast ledges where a basic jig is still halfway down when the squid lose interest, this is the one to tie on.
Same K, deeper reach. The rear Hydro Fin and flat pentagon Hydro Body still keep the fall level and wobble-free, so the extra weight buys depth without costing the slow, confident sink that gets wary calamari to commit. The Combi Fine crown converts the half-hearted grabs you get from cold, pressured squid.
When to reach for it. Fish the Deep when you're over 10 m of water, when a side-wind bows your line, or when current sweeps a basic jig off the bottom before it settles. Run the basic K or Shallow over weed flats and shallow reef. Note: the EGI-OH TR tuning sinker does not fit the Deep type.
